The Canadian Council on Invasive Species (CCIS) serves as a national voice and hub to protect Canada from the impacts of invasive species. With members and chapters from all corners of Canada, along with governments and businesses, the CCIS brings people together to build practical solutions to prevent the spread of invasive species.

We depend on a strong membership base to raise awareness about the invasive species issue and assist in guiding ours goals and objectives and help vote on important issues.

The CCIS membership consists of voting and non-voting members. For voting members (chapters, business/organization/indigenous) you will receive:

  • voting privileges at our AGM regarding changes to our by-laws and changes, election of Directors and other items as defined in the Bylaws
  • chapters, indigenous and business representatives, members have an opportunity to stand for election as a Director for the Board

Voting Members

Voting membership shall be available to those who have applied and have been accepted for voting membership in the Council including members from:

  1. Chapters: Representatives from a provincial or territorial Invasive Species Council in all provinces or territories that has been defined as chapters.
  2. Business/organizations: Representatives from national, multi-provincial/territorial organizations, including businesses, with a stated interested in reducing the impacts of invasive species
  3. Indigenous: Representatives from national, provincial or territorial indigenous organizations with a stated interested in reducing the impacts of invasive species

Non-Voting Members

Non-Voting membership shall be available to those who have applied and have been accepted for non-voting membership in the Council including members from:

  1. Individuals: any individual with an interest in reducing the impacts of invasive species
  2. Government organization: representatives from federal, indigenous, provincial, territorial and local governments with a stated interested in reducing the impacts of invasive species
  3. Others: with a stated interest in reducing the impacts of invasive species

Membership Fee

  1. As of 2018, an annual Membership Fee will be implemented and will expire as of December 31st of each year.
  2. Any membership applications received after August 30th, will receive the initial year at 50% of the standard annual fee.
*membership rates will be reviewed and approved annually by the Executive Director with input from the Board.

  • chapters, indigenous and business representatives, members have an opportunity to stand for election as a Director for the Board
  • Will receive discounts on resources pertaining to a CCIS programs, where appropriate
  • Could have an opportunity to sit on committees
