Names matter. They tell a story, shape first impressions, and sometimes need to evolve to reflect a broader vision.

As a non-profit, registered charity, the Canadian Council on Invasive Species (CCIS) has played a vital role in addressing the national threat of invasive species, engaging communities and organizations across the country. As our work expanded, we recognized the need for a name that reflects our national scope, collaborative approach, and leadership in safeguarding landscapes, communities, and economies.

That’s why we’re excited to introduce Invasives Canada (Espèces envahissantes Canada)—our new operating name. This change represents our mission to collaboratively safeguard landscapes and communities by reducing the introduction and spread of invasive species. We aim to make our work more visible, accessible, and impactful, ensuring that all people living in Canada recognize the importance of protecting our lands and waters for future generations.

A Logo That Tells a Story

Our refreshed visual identity aligns with our mission. Rather than focusing solely on invasive species, this new logo symbolizes our efforts to protect Canada’s ecosystems, economy and communities from invasive species. The flowing lines within the design represent interconnected ecosystems and the power of collective action. Every element of this design reflects our vision: healthy lands, waters, communities, and economies, resilient to invasive species.
