What is PlayCleanGo?
PlayCleanGo started as a Minnesota State initiative to stop the spread of invasive species in parks and natural areas. The Canadian Council on Invasive Species (CCIS) entered into an agreement with Minnesota in late 2016 that enabled CCIS to adapt and implement PlayCleanGo: Stop Invasive Species in Your Tracks as a national branded program across Canada. PlayCleanGo is an education and outreach campaign for outdoor recreationalists. The goal is to encourage outdoor recreation while protecting valuable natural resources. The objective is to slow or stop the spread of terrestrial invasive species (those that occur on land) through changes in public behaviour.
- REMOVE plants, animals & mud from boots, gear, pets & vehicle
- CLEAN your gear before entering & leaving the recreation site
- STAY on designated roads and trails
- USE CERTIFIED or local firewood & hay
- Stop Invasives
- Report It
- Get Involved
BECOME A PARTNER!
You and your organization can help recreationists understand the link between outdoor recreation and pathways of spread for terrestrial invasive species. The goal of the PlayCleanGo campaign is: "To give recreationists a clear call to action - to be informed, attentive, and accountable for stopping the spread of invasive species." We welcome your partnership!
Sponsors are organizations, or individuals, who provide funding to maintain PlayCleanGo as a national program through CCIS.
